ANTIQUE FOUNTAINS IN THE ITALIAN TRADITION

There is nothing like water for creating a magical atmosphere in any garden.  Whether it be a fountain topped by a sculpture spouting water or a wall-mounted jet, the effect will always be highly attractive.
Springs, fountains, washbasins and tubs are normally made from stone that can be adorned with different motifs: gargoyles, cherubs, shells, globes, cones, mermaids, dolphins and different types of statues to match the architecture of the house and the style of the garden.  Water has accompanied the history of humanity, is intimately connected to life itself and is a symbol of the very origin of things.

This group of sculptures along with other statues is found in the garden of the 1st "Villa Veneta" which was built by Architect Andrea Palladio.

The sculpture is the work of the famous sculptor Marimali.
